version 0.1.2.5 sample available

September 24, 2007 21:04 by theahuramazda

i've managed to fix a couple of the major bugs and have packaged a sample site for downloading.

i do not have enough time to update the examples on this site because the newer version - 0.1.2.5 - does break existing code.

i'll try to have everything updated to the newer version, both site and downloads.

you can find the version 0.1.2.5 script and sample here only (under samples),
or view a live version of the sample here.
note: if the style does not change, select another style and then go back to the style you want

P.S the example crashes IE 6 sp2. i think it's to do with the dynamic stylesheet swapping!

I'm having trouble working out how this is a combobox, as I can't work out how to type inside it! What am I doing wrong?

rob:
you are not doing anything wrong. it is not a combobox as yet. currently, it is a replacement for the select element.

eventually, I will try to make it into a fully functional combo box, which is normally found in desktop apps.

I'm finding that the loading time for pages with the select replacement on is quite long - it seems quite processor intensive, especially with large select lists. Is there any way to reduce this overhead? In this case, I'm only really using it to allow for a nicer appearance in IE (it doesn't like very long options in narrow select items), so can afford to scrap some of the other features if it would speed it up!

matthew,

if you send me the HTML or a sample, i'll take a look at the problem and will look to optimising it.

send it to ahuramazda[at]btinternet.com.
i'll get back to you as soon as possible.
